loading the java page correctly

When you first visit either of the java chat pages a permission box will display like the image shown below.

The prompt is asking for your permission to run the java applet which in turn will allow you access the chatroom.

You need to press the "Yes" button and then the java applet will load.

If you press the "No" button by mistake then close all your browser windows, empty your temporary internet cache and history then come back to the chat page and the permission box should display again.

filling out your details

The image below shows the connection details box for the java chat applet once it has loaded.

You should change the "Nick Name:" field to the name (nickname) you wish to be known as in the chatroom.

The rest of the information can be left as it is preset.

When choosing a nickname for the chat, try to make it something unique.
Perhaps by adding letters or numbers to the end, this chatroom is not the only one on the server and lots of names are already taken.
Try to keep to the same nickname each time you visit then people can get to know you better.

You can now press the "Connect Now!" button to join the chatroom.

There will be a delay at this point while the chat server is making a few security checks.
Be patient it should only take a minute or two at most.
