gymnastics broadcast database @ gym-media.co.uk

This is an attempt to catalog in detail (gymnast/country/apparatus/score) gymnastics broadcasts from the uk and europe.
It is in compliment to the uk & euro tv guide which often provides advance information about upcoming broadcasts.

The information is offered as is and should not be taken as gospel, mistakes do happen.

video systems
NTSC stands for National Television Systems Committee, and this is the main video format for America, and some parts of Japan
PAL stands for Phase Alternate Line, and this is the main video format for UK, most of Europe and Australia
SECAM stands for SEquential Couleur Avec Memoire, and is the main video format for France and a few other places

compatibility notes (slant towards the UK)
NTSC and PAL formats are incompatible, it means you cannot watch either format on the other standards VCR.
However if you have bought a VCR recently in the UK, then you might be able to watch NTSC tapes on your VCR, but you will NOT be able to copy them.

PAL and SECAM are kind of compatible,
meaning that if you watch a SECAM tape in a PAL VCR then the picture will be there, but it will be in B/W, in other words you lose the colour content.
I am not sure but I suspect the same for watching a PAL video in a SECAM VCR

history
This originally started out as an attempt to catalog in detail (gymnast/apparatus) my collection of gymnastics videos quite a few years ago.
Listings were produced in plain html which then progressed into text files being converted into html by using a custom written perl script (tapei.pl).
Now the whole index has been redesigned and coded in PHP using MySQL database to provide the listings, the code is still in development stages, the html parser was knocked together in about ten minutes, so the listings are displayed in a very basic form. Further features are planned such as search for gymnast by name.
